our second chance starts tomorrow

Posted by chelle at 01:54 PM on November 7, 2007.

sugod napud ang lain nga semester. i forsee more days of pagtukaw, pagbilar, pagka-zombie.. but of course.. more days to chat, bond and have fun with friends..

tomorrow.. i begin the second part of my third year life..

me excited.. but first.. allow me to rant.. hehee..

just yesterday, i finished enrolling. i started last monday and ended yesterday! yeah! two days jud among enrollment. pardon UP's enrollment system. their so-called computerized system is not working. is it because of me? or loading lang jud ang system? every once in while, the internet bogs down, the computer hangs.. the system is pissing everyone off. we had to come back later that afternoon or sometimes, the next day to finish enrollment. before.. without this crs-is thingy, we're done enrolling in 1-2 hours.. goes to show man is more efficient! hehee..

so tomorrow.. is the start of a new chapter.. the second semester. last semester was quite fun. i did learn a lot. but we could have done better. say, i just hope this sem, i really get to learn a lot from our TEACHERS. coz we're actually paying for them. and it's dissapointing that some subjects and teachers didn't exactly meet my expectations. hehe.. well, the teachers were great, smart and all... but somehow.. this is UP. and you know what i mean..

last sem was heartbreaking. huhuhu.. for those who know what i mean.. don't blab nalang.. mas sakit sa heart. hehehe... anyway, ka-get over naman ko. ge lang.. next time.. i'll do better.. challenge nalang ito..

now... enough of the rantings. hehehe...

this semester.. the second part of my third year life...will be a super busy one.. c'mon.. we're third year.. that means more projects.. more nosebleed theories..and yeah... we're taking up pre-reqs or so for thesis.. yikes! sige lang.. kaya raman ni bah.. the victory that conquers the world is faith. hehehe. more difficult lessons to come! but we'll pass them all..with flying colors pah..

also... more events and activities to watch out for!
for comm up, bagsik, tsinelas, yfc. and all... whew! excited nako.. organize2 mga activities.. i love events jud. here man gud ma-showcase among forte.. diba maskom?! hahaa.. bitaw..bitaw.. centennial na raba next year..so dapat to the max jud ni. kay you known na... 100 years of excellence na tah! aaaeee.. hehehe..God bless natoh tanan.. i know karun na sem medyo busy ta kay ending na sa school year padung. mga college days and proms.. wweeeeee!

last semester.. how did you do? how were your responsibilities as a student and leader?
but you think we could have done better?? .. well.. thanks to second sem. we can improve ourselves..we can be better... we get a second chance..

and that second chance starts tomorrow!

near-end of the semester blues

Posted by chelle at 09:40 PM on September 26, 2007.

hapit na gyud.. gamay nalang...

we've got like three weeks or so before this semester ends. hahai.. finally! after five months of sacrifices, failures and victories, we're coming to an end. yehey! but before we can put down our pens, keep away our books and pile our photocopies, we still have so many things to go through, so many requirements to accomplish and so many eyebrows to burn. hehehe...

and now that we've got a few more weeks...mao puy pag-patong-patong sa mga buluhaton. ka-feel mo anang times nga hapit na unta mahuman pero murag kapoi na ipadayon? hehehe. ironic kay gamay nlng gyud unta.. hehehe..

but the good thing about being a mass comm student is that we seldom have written final exams. most of our exams are group projects. and i don't mind producing thousands of documentaries or making hundreds of cebuano magazines...as long as i don't have to solve mathematical equations or answer objective questions.. hehee.. kapoi memorize noh bahala na! i enjoy making projects, that's why. most especially if what the topic interests me a lot. lingaw man xa kay ma-aaply gyud namo among skills..mapanindigan gyud namo among pagka-masscom.. hehehe...

as if naa pa ko'y mabuhat noh.. well.. bisag kapoi au ning ubang subjects, sige nalang, ok ra. antusun nalang.. gamay nalang btaw.. mao ni xa'y pain levels of success... ehhehehe..

kaya ra ni!!
go rachelle!!
go me!!

lanog fury

Posted by chelle at 06:08 PM on June 9, 2007.

ok.. it started with my "bigong pangarap".

ive always wanted to head a publication, become its editor-in-chief...

bigong pangarap coz of the gsp courier. i was supposed to be the eic.. but naaah.. the paper itself wasn't pursued.

it came true when i was given the responsibility to revive and renew lanog, the official publication of mass comm students.

excited and full of vigor, i head off to planning and gathering staff writers. well, there were ready articles nah.. so, all i need was to layout and off were ready to print.

i thought it was easy. i had this back in highschool. ooh well.. turns out.. no one in our program knows how desktop publishing. i dont trust my skills. im not capable enough.

good thing.. ate drei found a friend. knows how to layout and all. but he'll be using another software. not a desktop publishing software.. still, ok lang.. we took the risk...and the consequences.. in short.. i spent my whole summer 2006 editing, layouting, copying, pasting for lanog.

still.. we pulled it through. we published it on time.

2nd issue. this was easier. i had writers nah. plus, kuya ezra agreed to layout again.

3rd issue. ive worked on it at the start of the summer. and guess what... im still working on it until now... grabe! nahurot akong summer napud! layouting was easier. my cousin rankine agreed to help me. he layouted the whole piece. the prob was on the writers this time. it took quite some time before we finally collected and put everything into one piece.

just now..the only problem was how to turn it into pdf. dammit. we used a trial version of pagemaker. since it was faster..were beating the deadline.. but the consequence: the whole paper can't be converted into pdf... arrrgh!

....i'll continue this later... after i calm down...and know what to do...

the diminishing curse casted upon the masscomm block

Posted by chelle at 07:29 PM on May 31, 2007.

spell. curse. sumpa.

we were once a bunch of 31 young, free-spirited individuals.. we're like the most numerous block! hahaha.. but little did we know that we won't be as numerous as we used to be. by and by, every semester or academic year, our number just decreases... huhuhuhu..

it all started with nes, chad, carol, fanshen and arianne shifting courses. well, maybe they thought that the course isn't just for them. Fanshen flew to UP Diliman (but came home to visit us in Cebu this summer). Chad went to a university in Leyte (i think) and took a course in computer programming (mau man pud ni iyang kinaon uy!). Carol and Arriane are taking up computer science. Nes flew to baguio and went back here in Cebu but took another course, this time, management. Oh well, shifting to the call of their hearts suited them right. true enough, they're shining and soaring in their new fields. great job, you guys!

then, there's tinay who had to leave for a while to fulfill her new role as a mom. beautiful mom you got there.. God bless you tinay!

now, who can forget pring's sudden death that shocked us all. yeah, redundant.. but really.. it came as a shock jud. it happened at new year's day, who will ever think that someone would actually die on that day! at first, i even thought that bevs was pulling a bad joke. now, how i wish it was just a bad joke. pring has been a blessing jud. dancer. choreographer. camera-freak. asean volunteer. harry potter's #1 fan. dear friend. hahai.. now, we're happy for you kay we know you're now dancing with the angels of heaven. thanks for everything pring.

this time, dionne of course... rise to stardom at pinoy big brother's house.. kewl! as in, naka-shagit jud ko when i found out about this. grabe! todo na itong friend na ito! now, that's what i call...on the way to her dreams! dionne has always wanted to be a star.. and now, she's on her way. watch out for her guestings and shows (your song this sunday june3)... lovable sweetheart indeed. we'll miss you ate di. hope you can visit us here in cebu.. and you know, bond galore! hehehe

then, we have khing's change of heart. hehehe.. bitaw, he shifted to nursing. in uc banilad. well, that isn't quite as far compared to manila or new york.. it's just about two rides from up.. hehe.. that gives us a cool and valid reason to visit uc during intrams.. wahaha.. hunting nanaman ito!

ang just recently, last night, i just came to realized that we won't be seeing am for a long period of time. that is if i decide to move or travel to new york, then, it won't be that long.. but well.. i'll really miss her for sure. she's one of those genuine people i knew. those who's not ashamed to be what she is. she's real. adik. katokun. hahaha... am from the bronx.

see? from 31.. we're down to 21.. grabe! in just two years, we're diminished by ten. how cruel could that be! hehehe. and who knows, makuha-an pajud ta!

bitaw, painful these goodbyes might be. . but hey.. these people just have to go.. for growth and for their own betterment. let's be happy for them, shall we? we've got memories and moments to keep, cherish and relive. besides, goodbyes aren't forever. magka-reunite ra lageh tang tanan! original 05-maskom people!

anyway, for us nga nahibilin sa maskom block, i know atong bonding samut magka-close ug magka-tight.. but let us not forget these people who once and will always be a part of us. let these people be our inspiration as we face more tabadas, iturraldes and manticajons in the upcoming school years. go!

halalan 2007

Posted by chelle at 02:41 PM on May 17, 2007.

sorry, this is super bahaw na.. but still, wa pa ko ka-get over.. yeah.. ana jud ko, basta ganahan kaayo ko sa experience.. dugay maka-get over.. first, sa asean.. then, kani napud.

well, it has been one great halalan 2007 for me. i had all out participation jud.

first, im a first-time voter. so.. excited kaayo ko to cast my very first vote, to have my finger "dirtied" with indelible ink.. my mom was there. she accompanied me to my polling precinct. because i just registered, i had a different precinct. i had to vote as early as 7am since i still have other duties to attend to for the whole day. haahha.. mura jud ko ug artista! naa ga-sige sunod nako, ga-picture ug video jud si mommy.. its my first vote after all. i deserve a remembrance. hehehe.. but more than just my first time, i see this as a right and a privilege to choose rightful leaders for our country. i voted for those worthy and deserving to occupy a seat in the government.. thus, im very proud of the indelible ink on my finger.. which until now is still visible..

by the time i dropped my ballot, i rushed outside to meet the abscbn news team. yeah, i 'm joining sir junrey nadela and his team for halalan 2007 coverage.. im his production assistant. i had loads of fun. i learned a lot, too. plus, these people are so cool. i didn't regret this jud. it was like a pre-internship experience for me. i took down notes while sir junrey does the interview. i helped him make his news report.. plus, i got to ask a few questions for pnp rd alarcio. char! hehe.. bitaw, it was such an overwhelming experience. i even got to witness what goes on behind the scenes- during live reports, recording and editing news stories. kapoi xa but lingaw! there was a time when naa nami sa sibonga, then someone sent an info nga there's an election anomaly in naga and some ingrams in san fernando. grabe, we had to rush back jud dayun. and murag unsa ra na kaduol ang duha ka lugar sa! hehe. tapos, it was past 5 pm already. we had to be in the cti yby 6pm to catch tv patrol central visayas.

at around 8pm, my abs-cbn pa task is done. but my day isn't done ywt. im shifting gears. from 8pm til the next day, i'm in the ccimpel headquarters, verifying election returns. we also encoded them in to the computer... words like "pangilinan - 97, escudero - 95" were deafening. hehehe. i was tired and sleepy.. but i managed to pull it off. my partner textmate opay was fun to be with pud - makapapukaw iyang pagka-mahinuwayun ug pagka-palaaway! hehehe. kami man duha partners during the encoding. i lost count kung pila ka cups of coffee na akong na-drink. grabe uy.. but it was my pleasure. while encoding the results, i realized cebuanos are indeed intelligent. they didn't vote for personality..but for principles..

whatta day! i was super sabog by the time we went out of the ccimpel headquarters. along with my cousins, we believed this was one heck of an election day! grabe ha.. as for me, 24 hours akong participation! hehehe..
